James Reardon-Anderson is the Sun Yat-Sen Professor of Chinese Studies and dean of Georgetown University in Qatar. A member of the faculty advisory committee for the Initiative for U.S.-China Dialogue on Global Issues, he joined the Georgetown faculty in 1985.
International activities include:
- Author of five books on the history and politics of China, most recently Reluctant Pioneers: China’s Expansion Northward, 1644-1937
- Previously served as director of the Inter-University Program for Chinese Language Studies in Taipei, chief librarian of the C.V. Starr East Asian Library of Columbia University, and director of the Committee on Scholarly Communication with the People's Republic of China.
- At Georgetown, he has been director of Asian Studies, director of the Master of Science in Foreign Service program, and dean of Georgetown University in Qatar.
