Chow Chung-yan, the executive editor of the South China Morning Post, explored the topic of unpacking China: how to read and report what is going on in China. Eleanor Albert moderated the conversation.

Chow Chung-yan began his journalistic career at the South China Morning Post (SCMP) and rose to become executive editor in 2015, following stints at the city, China, and business desks. As the SCMP’s second-in-command, he is in charge of the China and U.S. bureaus, as well as the political economy, culture, print, and digital teams.

Eleanor M. Albert is a research fellow with the Initiative for U.S.-China Dialogue on Global Issues. She is also a Ph.D. candidate in political science at George Washington University. Her research interests include Chinese foreign and domestic policy, as well as China’s participation in global governance.
