Call for Applications: 2026-2027 U.S.-China Student Dialogue
The Georgetown University Initiative for U.S.-China Dialogue on Global Issues is accepting applications for its 2026-27 student dialogue program. The application deadline is October 4, 2026.
The U.S.-China Student Dialogue brings Georgetown students together with peers at leading Chinese universities through virtual and in-person dialogues for in-depth conversations about critical issues and ways forward in the U.S.-China relationship. This year the initiative is sponsoring two dialogues: one with Peking University (November 2026 – March 2027) and another with Tsinghua University (March - May 2027).
Each program will feature a cohort of 12-15 Georgetown students and begin with four Zoom sessions dedicated to critical issues in U.S.-China relations, including but not limited to global governance, peace and security, technology, business and trade, and climate change. The online dialogues will give Georgetown students an opportunity to get to know their Chinese peers and to map out joint projects.
The work will culminate in a Georgetown-funded study tour in Beijing, giving students the opportunity to deepen the dialogue with their Chinese peers, develop joint policy proposals, and meet with leaders from the academic, business, and government sectors. Students will also have the opportunity to travel to either Taiwan (March) or Hong Kong (May) and engage in dialogues and site visits for the second portion of the trip.
Requirements
- All current Georgetown graduate students, seniors, juniors, and sophomores that are in good academic standing are eligible to apply.
- Applicants may apply for one or both cohorts and should specify which cohort they are applying for in their application. Students graduating in May 2026 are only eligible to apply for the first (November-March).
- Participants must participate in all four Zoom sessions and the study tour in the spring.
- Participants will submit two 500-word reflections (one before and one after the study tour), which may be featured on the initiative’s website and publications.
