U.S.-China Student Dialogue

The U.S.-China Student Dialogue is an exchange program designed to promote dialogue on critical issues in the U.S.-China relationship between students at Georgetown University and various Chinese universities.

Launched during the COVID-19 pandemic, the inaugural cohort of 15 Georgetown students participated in virtual dialogues with students from Fudan University, Peking University, and Zhejiang University during the spring 2021 semester. The virtual dialogues continued into the 2021-2022 and 2022-2023 academic years, seeking to maintain connections between U.S. and Chinese students amidst a period of strained international educational exchange.

During the 2023-2024 academic year, the initiative expanded the program into a yearlong, multilevel dialogue culminating in an in-person exchange trip to Hong Kong and Shenzhen in May 2024. Since then, the program has resumed engaging Georgetown students in dialogues students, scholars, policymakers, and businesspeople in China through virtual exchanges and study trips to China.
