Fred Neumann, co-head of Asian Economic Research and managing director of Global Research at HSBC, Hong Kong will discuss the current state of the Chinese economy, provide an in-depth analysis of the future of Asian economies, and offer insights into how the business community will be affected by these changes. The event will be moderated by Dr. Evan Medeiros, Penner Family Chair in Asian Studies and Professor of Practice in the School of Foreign Service.

Fred Neumann is managing director of Global Research and co-head of Asian Economic Research at HSBC, Hong Kong. Before joining HSBC in 2006, Dr. Neumann was an adjunct professor at a number of U.S. universities including John Hopkins University, teaching graduate courses on Asian sovereign risk analysis, financial markets, monetary policy, and Southeast Asian political culture. He also served as a consultant to international organizations and governments, and as a research associate of the Institute for International Economics in Washington, D.C. A former Fulbright scholar, Dr. Neumann holds a PhD in international economics and Asian Studies.
Evan Medeiros is a professor of practice at the School of Foreign Service and the Asian Studies Program where he concurrently serves as the Penner Family Chair in Asian Studies and the Cling-Family Senior Fellow in U.S.-China Studies. Dr. Medeiros specializes in U.S.-China relations and Chinese foreign policy. Previously, he served as the Obama administration’s Special Assistant to the President and Senior Director for Asian Affairs on the National Security Council.
