Please join the Initiative for U.S.-China Dialogue for a conversation with Congressman Adam Smith (D-WA), who in September 2025 led the first U.S. congressional delegation to visit China since 2019. The discussion will be moderated by Senior Fellow Evan Medeiros.
Representative Adam Smith (D-WA) is the U.S. representative for Washington's 9th congressional district and currently serves as ranking member of the House Armed Services Committee. He previously served as a prosecutor and was elected to the Washington State Senate.
Dr. Evan Medeiros (moderator) is the current director of Asian Studies, Penner Family Chair in Asia Studies in the School of Foreign Service, and a senior fellow with the Initiative for U.S.-China Dialogue on Global Issues at Georgetown University. He previously served for six years on the staff of the National Security Council as director for China, Taiwan and Mongolia, and then as special assistant to the president and senior director for Asia.
