Guihai Guan

Guihai Guan is an associate professor and an executive vice president of the Institute of International and Strategic Studies at Peking University (PKU). His academic interests lie in the fields of Russian diplomacy, Sino-Russian relations, Chinese and Russian contemporary political and social transitions, and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and sociopolitical development in Central Asian countries. Guan is also a director of the Center for Modern Russian Studies at PKU, a consultant for the Sino-Russian subcommittee of cooperation in education for the Chinese Ministry of Education, and an editor and board member of the academic journal Region. He is a participant in the Initiative for U.S.-China Dialogue on Global Issues Research Group on Managing Strategic Competition.

  • Co-author of Great Europe: Honor and Dream (1999) and Yeltsin’s Years in Power (2000).
  • Published over 30 articles in Chinese, Russian, English, Korean, and Japanese.
