Teresa Kuan

Teresa Kuan is an associate professor of anthropology at the Chinese University of Hong Kong. Her research interests include anthropology of China, anthropology of ethics, childhood studies, psychological anthropology, and medical anthropology. She is a co-convener for the Initiative for U.S.-China Dialogue on Global Issues Research Group on Culture and Society.

  • Author of Love’s Uncertainty (University of California Press, 2015) an examination of the intersection between popular child-rearing advice, state efforts to improve "population quality," and the lived experience of parenting in contemporary China.
  • Co-editor of the 2017 special issue “Moral (and other) laboratories” in the journal Culture, Medicine, and Psychiatry.
