Responding To: A Reflection on Participation in the Research Group on Climate Change
Zhang Xiliang
There are two aspects. On the one hand, the research group greatly helped me with my own research such as on the carbon market. Our meetings showed me perspectives and expectations from the U.S. side, and deepened my research on the design of the Chinese carbon market. On the other hand, the Georgetown U.S.-China dialogue on climate change introduced me to new research topics such as how to encourage low carbon clean investment in China’s Belt and Road Initiative. The conversation among group participants showed me the importance of this issue. These are my biggest gains from the program.
Zhang Xiliang is executive director of the Institute of Energy, Environment and the Economy at Tsinghua University. He is a co-convener of the Initiative for U.S. -China Dialogue on Global Issues faculty research group on climate change.
